Political prisoner Abu Bakr Rostami went on a hunger strike in protest to his transfer to solitary confinement and torture in Zahedan Prison.
During the Ashura speech of two clerics who insulted Sunnis, the 23-year-old prisoner protested and prison officials reciprocated by throwing him in solitary and torturing him. Abu Bakr Rustami was arrested in 2015 by the Revolutionary Guards Corps on his way to Pakistan to continue his studies. He was subjected to torture for three months and was forced to give false televised confessions. The young prisoner was then sentenced to five years of prison.
