Prisoner of conscience and Christian convert Ebrahim Firouzi has staged a ten-day hunger strike since July 17. He is protesting the ill-treatments and harassments of Christian converts, being denied possession of their own religious books in prison and issuing unfair and harsh sentences.
“Regarding to harassment of Christian converts by judiciary officials, who denied them possession of their own religious books and issuing long prison sentences against them, I will start a ten-day hunger strike since July 17 to support their demands. In a July 16, 2017 letter I wrote to Tehran’s prosecutor about such restrictions. Iran’s government does not determine and approve being Christian or not. This is under the jurisdiction of the Church. Prisoner of conscience Ebrahim Firouzi, Rajai Shahr Prison,” the letter reads in part.
